IDS has launched a new website - greater focus on private recipients.

IDS Logistik GmbH has launched a new website with immediate effect. Alongside its modern, clean design, the new website has a stronger focus on and improved user-friendliness for private recipients.

"During the planning phase of the new corporate website, it was particularly important to us to focus more strongly on the rapidly growing number of private recipients alongside a modern and clearly structured design. They should be able to find answers to their questions quickly and easily through intuitive navigation," explains IDS Managing Director Michael Bargl.

Requirements have changed.

The proportion of private customer business at IDS has been rising sharply, and not just since the start of the pandemic. IDS developed specialised services for this customer group at an early stage, such as delivery notifications via email or text message. If a customer is unable to accept the ordered goods on the scheduled date, they can use a link to the IDS Avis portal to select an alternative delivery date, authorise a leave-behind, arrange for their parcel to be delivered to a neighbour or cancel the delivery.

The biggest challenge facing the private customer business today is dealing with the high volume of telephone enquiries from private recipients regarding their parcels, and explaining the processes and services in the general cargo sector to them. Analysis of visits to the IDS website has shown that 90 per cent of homepage visits are for parcel tracking and are therefore almost exclusively made by private customers. However, the old website was not tailored to the needs of private recipients, focusing primarily on B2B business instead.

The solution is an intuitive website structure that facilitates direct information flow.

Alongside an updated B2B section and an expanded careers page, the new IDS website is primarily designed with B2C recipients in mind, featuring a modern design with striking photos and videos, a clear structure, and straightforward navigation.

Alongside intuitive user guidance, a self-service section has been implemented for private recipients, providing answers to frequently asked questions, a glossary and contact forms. The parcel tracking service for private recipients has also been revamped to provide clearer wording and presentation.

Another new feature on the IDS website is access to additional IDS communication channels. This includes links to IDS's social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Xing, in particular. IDS has been increasingly active on these platforms since last year, gaining more and more followers. In addition, an IDS online newsletter is set to launch in the second quarter, complementing the customer magazine IDS facts. You can sign up for this via the IDS website.

Alongside a complete redesign of its content, the website has been updated to meet the latest technical standards, making it easier to find via search engines and ensuring it works flawlessly on all devices.

'We particularly hope that the new website will lead to a significant reduction in the current daily figure of around 1,400 enquiries to our telephone service. But of course, we also want to raise awareness of job vacancies at IDS, attract readers to our newsletter, and receive more and better Google reviews thanks to the service experience on the website," says Michael Bargl, summarising the objectives of the new website.
