IDS Quality Awards 2020

Kleinostheim, 3 May 2021: Hans Geis GmbH + Co KG of Kürnach secured first place in IDS Logistik's 2020 quality ranking, making it the largest general cargo network in Germany. Lebert-Noerpel’s Kempten depot came second and was recognised as the network’s Most Improved Depot of the Year. Third place went to DSV in Lahr, the previous year’s winner.

'We are delighted to return to the top of the podium after winning the IDS Quality Ranking in 2015 and finishing in second place for four consecutive years,' said Karsten Oehrlein, Freight Forwarding Manager at Hans Geis GmbH + Co KG in Kürnach. “This result confirms that our commitment to quality and continuous improvement is paying off. One example of this is our daily review and analysis of operational processes, which enables us to identify weaknesses early and respond quickly.”

Lebert-Noerpel won silver and DSV Lahr won bronze.

Both silver and bronze medallists can look back on outstanding performances. Through targeted quality improvement initiatives and consistent implementation, Lebert-Noerpel GmbH & Co. KG in Kempten climbed from 49th place to second place in the 2020 ranking. Former winner DSV Lahr secured third place once again.

“I congratulate this year’s winners and am pleased with the excellent overall results achieved across the network,” says Dr Michael Bargl, IDS's managing director. 'Despite significant operational challenges, including strong growth in e-commerce and booming demand from the construction and DIY sectors, as well as the impact of the pandemic, we maintained a consistently high level of quality throughout 2020. Our IDS partners delivered an outstanding performance across the board.”

As in previous years, 2020 was characterised by considerable volume fluctuations and exceptionally high shipment numbers. The pandemic added further complexity, with stricter delivery conditions, longer delivery times, reduced transport capacity, and an increasing driver shortage placing additional demands on the network.

Each year, IDS evaluates the service quality of its partner depots to determine the quality champion. Assessment criteria include adherence to delivery commitments for incoming shipments, scan completion rates, results from regular quality audits, and delivery performance for express consignments.
