Excellent quality forms the foundation for stability in challenging times

Kleinostheim, 12 April 2022. Hans Geis GmbH + Co KG, which is based in Kürnach, has secured first place in IDS Logistik's 2021 Quality Ranking, which is Germany's largest groupage freight network. As in the previous year, the company topped the ranking once again. The Noerpel depot in Kempten retained its strong second-place position, while Geis Eurocargo in Satteldorf achieved a place among the top three for the first time.

"We are delighted to have remained among the leading performers for the seventh consecutive year and to have won our third gold medal after 2015 and 2020," said Karsten Oehrlein, Freight Forwarding Manager at Hans Geis GmbH + Co KG in Kürnach. 'This result reflects our consistent quality management, our ongoing commitment to delivering the highest possible service standards every day, our continuous review of processes, and our regular employee development."

Silver for Noerpel Kempten, bronze for Geis Satteldorf

The winners of the silver and bronze medals also have every reason to be pleased with their results. The Noerpel depot in Kempten successfully defended its second-place finish from last year, proving that the quality improvement measures are having a lasting effect. After narrowly missing out on a podium finish in 2020, the Geis depot in Satteldorf won its first medal – bronze.

"I would like to congratulate this year's winners and am pleased with the overall result achieved during an exceptionally demanding year for everyone involved,' says Dr Michael Bargl, IDS's Managing Director. 'Despite unprecedented shipment volumes, particularly during the spring season, and operations that frequently pushed capacities beyond their limits, we once again demonstrated the stability of our network. All IDS partners proved their ability to deliver good to excellent performance, even under the most challenging conditions.”

Compared with previous years, 2021 — the second year of the pandemic — was characterised by significant shipment volume fluctuations, exceptionally high freight levels and severe weather events. Heavy snowfall in February and devastating floods in the Ahr Valley in July created difficult operating conditions and led to longer delivery times in some regions.

Every year, IDS evaluates the service quality of its partner depots to determine the overall winner in terms of quality. This assessment covers criteria such as adherence to delivery commitments for inbound shipments, the completeness of scanning processes, the results of regular quality audits, and the delivery performance of express consignments.
