On 20 April 2023, the Noerpel Group opened its doors to the public at five locations for Logistics Day: Baienfurt, Elsdorf, Odelzhausen, Ulm, and Villingen-Schwenningen. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and plans are already in place to participate again next year.
Logistics Day was established 16 years ago by the German Logistics Association (BVL) to give the public a better understanding of the wide range of activities, challenges and career opportunities within the logistics sector. “Logistics is far more than transportation alone. From warehousing and order picking to packaging, value-added services and just-in-time deliveries to production facilities, our industry is dynamic, diverse and full of exciting opportunities,' said Judith Noerpel-Schneider, Member of the Executive Management Board of the Noerpel Group. 'At the same time, the event provides an excellent opportunity to introduce ourselves to the communities in which we operate.'
Visitors to the participating Noerpel locations were invited to join guided tours of the large transhipment and warehouse facilities, as well as the operational yard areas. Across two tour sessions at each site, guests gained valuable insights into day-to-day logistics operations and learned more about the broad range of careers, training programmes and development opportunities available within the logistics industry.
‘Whether they were school pupils and university students exploring future career options or local residents taking the opportunity to visit our facilities, we were delighted by the strong interest and the many questions raised during the tours,’ said the branch managers of the participating locations. 'The positive feedback confirmed the importance of creating opportunities for the public to experience modern logistics first-hand.'
