• Combined freight forwarding and logistics facility opens
• Strategically located on the A8 motorway between Munich and Augsburg
• Building constructed to DGNB Gold standard
The Noerpel Group has officially inaugurated its new combined freight forwarding and logistics terminal in Odelzhausen, around 30 kilometres north-west of Munich and 30 kilometres south-east of Augsburg. The building is sustainable, well connected and built for growth. Around 70 guests, including political representatives, customers, and business partners, attended the opening ceremony.
Stefan Noerpel-Schneider, Managing Partner of the Noerpel Group, officially opened the new facility together with Helmut Zech, Deputy District Administrator of the Dachau district. “I am delighted that we can celebrate this milestone together,” said Stefan Noerpel-Schneider. 'Thanks to the tremendous support we received from all sides, and above all the commitment of our on-site employees, we are now ideally positioned to expand our integrated freight forwarding and logistics services in Odelzhausen.' He also highlighted the positive cooperation with the municipality, thanking both the local authorities and BREMER, the general contractor who delivered the project on schedule.
Guests were then invited to take a tour of the site to gain first-hand insight into the combined freight forwarding and logistics facility. The newly completed logistics terminal offers approximately 40,000 pallet spaces across 25,000 square metres, including dedicated hazardous goods areas. There are more than 25 loading bays available for efficient vehicle handling.
Sustainable Property
In addition to supporting efficient logistics processes, sustainability was a key consideration throughout the development of the new facility. The building was constructed in accordance with the Gold standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). Noerpel is planning a range of sustainability features, including a rooftop photovoltaic system to provide green electricity for the entire property, as well as for the IT infrastructure, LED lighting and forklift charging stations.
Freight Forwarding and Logistics Combined
The new logistics facility complements the 12,000-square-metre freight forwarding and cross-docking terminal where Noerpel began operating in 2019. 'Odelzhausen enables us to combine freight forwarding and logistics to deliver high-quality, integrated services from a single source,' explained Stefan Noerpel-Schneider. 'From the warehouse, we can seamlessly connect general cargo shipments, part loads and full truckloads to our national and European transport network.'
A number of new and existing Noerpel customers are already utilising the location, including companies from the mechanical engineering, consumer goods and electronics sectors. 'We still have limited capacity available,' added Stefan Noerpel-Schneider. Andreas Beck (Head of Logistics) and Ludwig Müllerleile (Head of Freight Forwarding) are available to discuss customer requirements and future projects.
Around 250 freight forwarding and logistics employees are currently based at the Odelzhausen site. They benefit from a modern working environment and spacious, light-filled communal areas. 'With Odelzhausen, we have created a new powerhouse within our group,' concluded Stefan Noerpel-Schneider. ‘This strong location will continue to help us move our customers’ businesses forward in the years to come.’
