- The joint approach enables the sustainable scaling of services.
The Noerpel Group continues its growth trajectory. On 1 September, the Ulm-based logistics provider acquired WEHNER Logistics GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Leverkusen. As a highly specialised company within the Noerpel Group, WEHNER Logistics will spearhead the development and growth of the Group’s e-commerce fulfilment operations.
Founded by Mark Wehner 15 years ago, WEHNER Logistics has developed into a recognised specialist in providing customised e-commerce fulfilment solutions. Jan Wehner joined the company one year after its foundation and continues to oversee operations and IT. The company’s service portfolio ranges from warehousing solutions and shipping management to comprehensive after-sales services. Over the past 15 years, WEHNER has built a resilient infrastructure and developed innovative fulfilment services, achieving continuous growth.
Today, the company operates approximately 13,500 square metres of warehouse space across its Leverkusen and Langenfeld (North Rhine-Westphalia) locations. These facilities offer 25,500 pallet and shelving positions and handle around 600,000 parcels per year.
‘We have been planning to strengthen our position in this segment for quite some time,’ says Lucas Noerpel-Schneider, Managing Director of the Noerpel Group. ‘WEHNER’s expertise is an ideal addition to our integrated service portfolio. This acquisition enables us to provide an even more comprehensive service to our customers in the growing field of e-commerce fulfilment.'
Scaling up expertise for future growth:
WEHNER's expertise and operating model will remain intact. The business will continue to operate as an independent division, with Mark and Jan Wehner at the helm. Both have committed to long-term management roles. As part of the acquisition, Noerpel will also take over all 40 employees at the Leverkusen and Langenfeld sites.
“After 15 years of building and growing the company, we are delighted to have found a strong partner in Noerpel,” says Mark Wehner, managing director. ‘Together, we can sustainably scale our services and unlock further growth potential. While we enhance Noerpel’s portfolio, our customers will benefit from access to the Group’s nationwide logistics infrastructure.”
Driving Sustainable Growth
The objective is to roll out WEHNER Logistics’ services across the entire Noerpel network and accelerate the development of e-commerce fulfilment nationwide. At the same time, the integration will reinforce the Noerpel Group’s presence in the Rhineland, where it will now have three locations.
The two companies also share a similar approach to sustainability. Responsible business practices and the continuous reduction of emissions form an integral part of both organisations' long-term corporate strategy.
