Stefan Noerpel-Schneider, CEO of the Noerpel Group, assumed the role of Chairman of the IDS Advisory Board on 1 July 2026. IDS is Germany’s largest general cargo cooperative and operates a managed partner network for groupage transport services. More than 15 million consignments are delivered annually through 54 depots according to defined transit times and uniform quality standards. The Noerpel Group is one of IDS's key partners, operating 13 depots across Germany and coordinating transport and freight handling activities within their respective regions.
Headquartered in Ulm, the Noerpel Group provides transport and logistics services and operates at 30 locations across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Stefan Noerpel-Schneider (59) leads the family-owned company as CEO, together with his children, Judith and Lucas Noerpel-Schneider, who represent the fourth and fifth generations of the business.
In addition to this role, Stefan Noerpel-Schneider will now also chair the IDS Advisory Board. This five-person board is responsible for defining IDS's strategic direction and objectives. 'I am looking forward to this new responsibility and would like to thank the partners for their trust,' says Stefan Noerpel-Schneider. 'The forwarding and logistics industry is one of the most important sectors of the economy. Taking on a dual role to help shape its future is both a responsibility and an exciting opportunity."
An IDS partner from the very beginning
Noerpel was one of the founding members of the IDS network when it was established in 1982, and remains one of its five shareholders. Stefan Noerpel-Schneider has taken on the position of Chairman of the Advisory Board for the second time, having previously held the role from 2015 to 2022.
Alongside groupage transport services through the IDS network, the Noerpel Group provides part and full load transport, air and sea freight solutions, and parcel services. The company also delivers a broad range of logistics solutions and e-fulfilment services, as well as operating its own personnel services business.
