'With Noerpel Baltic, we are strengthening supply chain resilience and positioning our company for the future.'
Frank Irslinger, Member of the Executive Board
The transport market remains under pressure. Despite the subdued economic environment, there is a shortage of lorry drivers and transport capacity remains limited. By setting up its own fleet company, Noerpel Baltic UAB, in Lithuania, the Noerpel Group is significantly increasing its capacity of drivers and vehicles, thereby helping to ensure reliable supply chains for its customers.
The transport industry is facing growing challenges. In Germany alone, around 70,000 lorry drivers are currently missing from the labour market, and demographic developments are expected to exacerbate the shortage in the years ahead. At the same time, available loading capacity remains scarce, with several freight requests often competing for a single vehicle. 'As a transport and logistics provider, this situation presents us with major challenges on a daily basis,' says Frank Irslinger, Member of the Executive Board of the Noerpel Group. 'Even a modest economic upswing is likely to exacerbate capacity bottlenecks.'
To address these challenges proactively, the Noerpel Group has set up its own fleet company in Lithuania, substantially expanding its access to qualified drivers and transport capacity. 'These additional resources, which are available to us on a permanent basis, enable us to continue providing reliable transport services for our customers operating internationally,' adds Frank Irslinger.
Good conditions in Lithuania
The Noerpel Group established its Lithuanian subsidiary, Noerpel Baltic UAB, in 2024. The company is headquartered in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. “Lithuania offers a stable economic environment, favourable conditions for business development, and a highly dynamic logistics sector,” explains Frank Irslinger. 'We are extremely satisfied with the launch of our subsidiary. Establishing a presence in Lithuania was the right decision.”
Today, Noerpel Baltic UAB employs around 75 permanent lorry drivers. Recruitment has taken place in Lithuania and neighbouring countries. The company currently operates a fleet of 60 vehicles. ‘Our medium-term goal is to expand the Noerpel Baltic fleet to 100 vehicles,’ says Frank Irslinger. ‘All 31 Noerpel locations can book dedicated transport services within the EU through Noerpel Baltic.’
Transparent transport operations
Transport operations are coordinated by the Noerpel team in Lithuania. They select the most suitable vehicles and drivers for each assignment and oversee the entire transport process from start to finish. To ensure full transparency throughout the supply chain, all vehicles can be tracked via GPS at any time, providing continuous visibility of shipment status.
Drivers and vehicles from Noerpel Baltic are already supporting operations in Ulm, Baienfurt, Kempten, Stuttgart, Teningen and Villingen-Schwenningen. They help to absorb capacity peaks and contribute to the reliable execution of transport across the network. Frank Irslinger concludes: 'With Noerpel Baltic, we are strengthening supply chain resilience and positioning our company for the future.'
